Creamy Hummus
Want to know the key hacks to create the ultimate creamy hummus? Just keep scrolling! You will never buy store hummus ever again.
We love hummus! It's protein-packed and great to have in sandwiches, pita wraps, or as a dip! We use to buy hummus from the store, but after making it at home we're never going back to the store-bought version. Homemade hummus is creamier, fresher, and more flavorful than the store-bought. And it's so easy to make!
In just 4 simple steps you can create the BEST hummus. Making hummus at home allows you to have full control over ingredients. You can choose to keep it simple and just use chickpea & olive oil, or you can spice it up by adding garlic, cumin, and paprika!
Tips:
Peel your chickpeas! We cannot stress this enough! This will make or break your hummus. A thin skin covers chickpeas, and when you push the chickpea between your fingers the skin will slide off. To make the removal of chickpea skins easier we soak our chickpeas in water, the skin should float up and you can scoop them out with a strainer.
Use quality olive oil. The type of olive oil you use makes a big difference in the flavor of your hummus. We like to use a bottle of olive oil we bought during our trip to Greece, but the olive oil from Thrive Market is great as well! Get a bottle and 25% off your first order with our link!
Use quality tahini and don't be cheap. There are so many brands of tahini out there and some are good, but some aren't. When buying tahini you want it to have a sesame aroma and you don't want it to be bitter. We're still searching for our go-to brand, but our favorite so far is from Tarazi. In addition to using good tahini, you want to use a generous amount of tahini. Don't skimp out, tahini is what makes your hummus rich and delicious!
Add ice to your hummus when you are blending. Do not add water to your hummus, you want to add either olive oil or ice. The ice prevents your hummus from heating and creates a lovely ice cream texture.
