The Best Chocolate Granola

The PERFECT granola. Lovely chocolate clusters that will elevate your breakfast and snacks!

Sick of overpaying for store-bought granola, but also struggle with achieving those amazing clusters from store-bought granola? Well, we're here to save you and your wallet!

Granola is a staple in the Dao house, we will always have a jar filled with chunky granola! Our dad loves to bring it as a snack for work and they're fueled with so much goodness that keeps him energized throughout the day! And it's so simple and cheap to make, prep a large batch during the weekends and you're set for the whole week! We'll never go back to buying those expensive bags of granola when our homemade one tastes better and is better for you.

Tips to Getting Clusters

  • Pack. When laying the granola mixture to bake, you have to tightly pack the mix which allows for the formation of the perfect clusters!

  • Let it cool in the oven. To create crunchy clusters, make sure to let your granola rest in the oven (turned off). This allows the granola to continue to bake while it slowly cools, creating the perfect crunch.

  • Blend. Out granola is a mixture of whole oats and blended oats. Blended oats help make the granola mixture more compact allowing for clusters to form when you bake.

Out granola recipe is extremely versatile and you can play around with it to create new and amazing flavors. Our basic go-to is chocolate (yum!)

Description

The PERFECT granola. Lovely chocolate clusters that will elevate your breakfast and snacks!

Ingredients:

3 cups blended rolled oats

1 cup mixture of nuts and seeds ( we used 1/3 cup pecans, 1/3 cup almonds, 1/3 pumpkin seeds)

1 cups rolled oats

1/3 cup cacao powder

1/3 cup coconut sugar

3 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp salt

1/2 cup rice puffs

1/2 cup maple syrup (additional if too dry)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F

  2. Blend 3 cups of oats in a blender or food processor. Then add your mixture of nuts and seeds. Blend till the size resembles pebbles (don't over blend).

  3. Remove the blade from your food processor or add the mixture into a large bowl. Add the rolled oats, cacao powder, coconut sugar, cinnamon, salt, and rice puffs. Mix till well combined with a spatula or spoon.

  4. Slowly drizzle in the maple syrup while mixing. Mix till you can begin to feel the mixture sticking together. Go slow to avoid adding too much maple syrup.

  5. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking sheet.

  6. Pour your mixture on the sheet and create an event layer by packing the mixture together with a spatula or spoon.

  7. Bake your granola for 8 mins and flip and bake for another 8 mins. Turn off your oven and let the granola sit inside to cool for another 24 mins.

  8. Once cooled break the granola into clusters with your hand.

  9. Store the granola in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks at room temperature.
